Wood Artisan and Designer Mark Alan Porter is quickly becoming another highly recognized Tennessee Artisan. With work residing in seven countries and over thirty of the United States, the gifted creativity and passion found in his wood arts have struck an accord in those who love beautiful handmade woodwork. His work is original and covers a wide range of items from beautiful fine art hardwood sculptures to rustic reclaimed barn wood trays.
Mark is a graduate of the University of Arkansas School of Architecture and spent twenty eight years in Little Rock Arkansas as a registered Landscape Architect. He is an outdoorsman and now resides in White Bluff Tennessee with his wife Connie Jo Porter. “ I love the creative aspect of the design and implementation process. Working with beautiful woods or old woods with weathered character is the medium I most enjoy. When I find flaws in wood I see it as a opportunity to let the unique character of this wood be shown as an artistic quality. When working with beautiful woods, I see the creativity of my Lord within it.”
In 1924 Olympic track champion Eric Liddell best worded it: “I know God created me for a purpose, but he also made me fast. When I run, I feel His pleasure.”
“Like Eric, when I get immersed in my work as an artisan, using my creative gift, I too feel His pleasure.”
